Whisper & Faith in House

Whisper by A Fine Frenzy and Faith by George Michael.

You've got to listen to these songs!!

I discovered them while watching my current favorite TV show: House MD. Hugh Laurie is a-mazing! It's been a pandemic in my school for the past week. Thanks to Meva Nareza for introducing it to us! As you know, our high school is divided into four major and I currently majored in Biology. Finding a movie like House is like killing two birds in one shot. We get to watch a movie AND learn something new. Not just biology or meds material, but also humanity and morale value. And some belly-shaker as well :) If you haven't watched it yet, go run to the nearest DVD store and enjoy House's hospitality in your flatscreen.

At first, I find some difficulties to watch this TV shows because it is full with medical terms. But don't worry it will not ruin the story cause eventhough you don't understand it, it doesn't really matter. Also House likes to use metaphors to make things a little bit more 'understandable'. Hey but if you're curious I'm going to list some medical terms that are used frequently in House's series. Enjooyy:

1. EKG: Electrocardiogram; used to monitor heartbeats
2. EEG: Electroencephalogram; used to monitor brain electrical activity. You'll hear terms like alpha waves, theta waves, delta waves etc.
3. CSF: Cerebrospinal Fluid; fluid that surrounds brain your spinal cord
4. LP: Lumbar Puncture; diagnostic test that takes out your CSF from your backbone and examine it
5. PT: Prothrombine Time; time measured for how long does your plasma clots
6. PTT: Partial Thromboplastin Time; time measured for how long does your blood clots
7. CHEM7: A test that measure your blood chemical substances. There are 7 subtstances measured: Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Glucose, CO2, Creatinine and BUN
8. BUN: Blood Urea Nitrogen
9. CT, PET, MRI: Scanning devices
10. OR: Operating Room
11. MS: Multiple Sclerosis: a disease where the nerves are demyelinated
12. MRSA: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus
13. HLA: Human Leukocyte Antigen; it's what they tested if they want to do a bone marrow transplant
14. Intubate: Make airways for people who have respiratory distress
15. B.P: Blood Pressure
16. O2 Sats: Saturation of haaemoglobin with O2
17. Bradycardia: Slow heart rate
18. Tachycardia: Fast heart rate
19. Preeclampsia: Pregnant women with high blood pressure
20. Sarcoidosis: inflammation of lymph nodes and other body tissue
21. Amyloidosis: amyloid protein abnormally deposited inside your body
22. V-fib: Ventricular fibrillation; severe abnormal heart rythm
23. V-tach: Ventricular tachycardia; rapid heartbeat that starts in the ventricle
24: DIC: Disseminated intravascular coagulation; your body throwing clots everywhere
25. CBC: Complete Blood Counts
26. Everything ends with -oma: Cancer
27. Everything ends with -itis: Inflammation
28. Everything ends with -pathy: Anomaly
29. VQ: Ventilation-perfusion scan, measure your airflow and bloodflow
30. Paraneoplastic syndrome: it's a syndrome that occurs if your body got a cancer
31. Anythings IV: Intravenous, liquid
32. IG(A/D/E/M/G): Immunoglobulin, type of antibodies
33. Banana bag: A type of IV fluid with lots of vitamins and dextrose for alcoholic. They called it banana cause it's yellow
34. Dialysis: a machine that takes over your kidney's job when they're failing

That's about it, I think. Well, if you find more, you can always depend on Mr. Google. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue watching Dr. House. I am hoping that one day, I could be a doctor just like him. HOPKINS HERE I COME!!! *music plays*

Just Another Game

FYI, I am posting this while listening Fireflies, Vanilla Twilight, Umbrella Beach, Dental Care, Sunburn, The Saltwater Room, Technicolor Phase all by Owl City. The newest addition to my iTunes library. I've always loved electronic genre but songs with electronic genre that I know talk about no other than booze, sex, clubs, etc. It feels so good to finally find some electronic songs that have decent lyrics. Owl City is definitely going to be a highlight in my iTunes for several weeks forward.

Tomorrow is IGCSE English as a Second Language. Yeah I know I should be sleeping right now but due to the fact that I just woke up from a three-hours nap, I think I could wait for a couple hours before hitting the crib for the second time. By posting this,
I get to kill two birds at one shot, updating my blog and practice writing for tomorrow. By sleeping, nah.

I wanted to post but can't really think of anything so.......yeah I'll play another game. So, I'm going to googled it up for a while and.......ah here it is: "Choose Your Own Adventure". How to play:
1. You are given a short story which has an option at the end of the page
2. You need to pick an option that will lead you to an different story
3. I am choosing the short story titled Another Story of Another Random Person

Let's get started:

Hi! This is a story about your second life. You are walking through the park when you see a small puppy. Your mother said that dogs are dirty and smelly and she doesn't want one.

I then check the puppy for a name tag

You checked it and find the name: "Dragon"

I brought Dragon home

You pick Dragon up and start walking to your destination. You can feel its stomach begin to rumble and Dragon begins to get restless. Just then you have have the horrible realization that there is something warm and sloppy running down your hand. "Dragon!!!" you exclaim, as you toss the dog to the side, wringing out your hands of the foul mess.

I patronized the dog, making fun of it and make it ashamed

Your face grows red with anger and you croon over Dragon and clench your yellow teeth. Dragon inspects you for a moment, gets up and POUNCES AT YOUR THROAT!!! The horror grips you much too late -- Dragon is a pitbull with rabies!! You grasp at the dog's iron jaws, but you fall into a gentle sleep befor ayour attempt succeeds. The last thing you hear is a faint "woof", though it is a happy woof.

(cricket chirping in distance)

That's it? Oh my. What a crunchy story. Where do the short story come from you ask? Visit here. There are a lot of other story. I was just unlucky to made a bad choice in a bad choice. I'm sleepyyy already. It's 00:42 already. Hoam, just wish me luck like you always do okay guys. Bye, love you, love the world.

Frantically gorgeous absent-minded leprechaun, Lindy

These Lyrics Are Just Ugh!

Aloha!
I've just finished celebrating Aishanura Handina's sweet 16th birthday party. Once again, happy birthday girl! Have a blasted year xoxo

I don't know why but I want to post something, but as usual I couldn't find any good topic to write. So that means I'm going to play another blogging game! The rules are simple, here:
1. Prepare a digital music player (iPod, Zune, your handphone, your laptop, CD player) and put it in shuffle.
2. Make a target list. In my post I'm going to stop shuffling after 20 songs
3. You must write your favourite part of each song that comes out. No more than two sentences!
4. If you don't know the song's lyrics you can look it up in the internet

There! Now let's get started....

"You can see through my flaw and keep lovin' me me me" For the Love, Drew Sidora ft Mario

"Better yet make your girlfriend disappear. I don't want to hear you say her name ever again" Girlfriend, Avril Lavigne

"Only with you, can I move on" Move On, Bruno Mars
*It's hard to decide which one is my favourite part because the whole song is just stunning

"It's all you can do. use what's been given to you" Live Like You're Dying, Lenka

"And it takes no time to fall in love. But it takes you years to know what love is" Life is Wonderful, Jason Mraz
*This is also a hard one

"Out of the sky, I close my eyes. Heaven help me!" Like A Prayer, Glee Cast

"It's time that you and I sat down and had a little chat and look me in the eye take off that stupid fitted cap" Alfie, Lily Allen
*I love Lily's British accent in this part!

"But he's scared of the light's inside her, so he keeps her in the dark" Pearl, Katy Perry

"Though her home is on the surface, she is still the universe" Live High, Jason Mraz
*I would write "The whole song" but then I'll be disqualified hahaha

"They want a look, we can give them a encore" Freakshow, Britney Spears

"Your love is nothing I can't fight" I Like It Rough, Lady Gaga

"Tell me how to win your heart, for I haven't got a clue. But let me start by saying: I love you" Hello, Lionel Richie

"Live your life until love is found or love's gonna get you down" Lollypop, Mika

"If you could see what I see, that you're the answer to my prayer" Angels Brought Me Here, Guy Sebastian
* Hard!

"This is the last game so make it count, it's now or never!" Now or Never, High School Musical 3 Cast
*Last chance to score a gold Lindy!

"Whatever happened to the values of humanity? Whatever happened to the fairness in equality?" Where is The Love, Black Eyed Peas

"You are relentless, I am defenseless" Get Back in My Life, Maroon5

"And here we go again, we know the rules, we know the end. Master of the scene" Voulez Vous, Mammamia Cast

"It's like a dream, although I'm not asleep" Breathless, The Corrs

"And I can't believe, oh that I'm your man. And I get to kiss you baby just because I can" Everything, Michael Buble

It's twenty already! It feels so good because I haven't heard many of these songs for ages. Oh it is now half past one in the morning. No wonder I feel sleepy. Got to have that beauty sleep then. I'm happy with this post :D Take my suggestion and play this game too. Fun!

Aloha everyone, see you next next daay

My Virtual Heroine

Hiiii everyone. Ah, it's good to be back blogging. Yes, I have been busy. And yes, I have been busy studying. And yes, I have been busy studying for Cambridge AS Level test this May-June -___-

What? Haven't I told you? Oh yeah I haven't :(
Yeah, soooo, my school is kind of a semi-international-olympiad-national school like I told you before and in the second year we all have to take an international test called Cambridge AS and A level test *shudder*

It's sort of SAT but Cambridge University endorsed it and if we pass the test with good grades, we could skip international student college in almost every university in the world. Fun and then not really. I sort of wanted to experience student college though. And apparently I'm thinking about taking my B.A degree in Indonesia. So, yeah you can conclude it on your own.

But let's not talk about desperate things shall we? I'm sure you don't want to read it either. And here we are back to the post's title. My Virtual Heroine. Who do you think she is? Well ladies and gentleman, please give it up foorr.....

Miss. Nancy Drew!!!!

YEAY! If your a fan of Nancy Drew too, please shout SLEUTH. Now! SLEUTH!!
Aaa! I'm so happy I could die :')

For those who don't know her, hell no, where have you been living? Under the rock? She's a fiction teenage girl detective that have existed since your grandmother's grandmother were a little girl. Her first appearance was in a book in 1930 it is called 'The Secret of The Old Clock' written by Edward Stratemeyer. Now, how I fall in love with her is not because of her book. But by her Mystery Video Game Sequels!!!!

My first encounter with this game is, gratefully, another serendipity. Years ago, I was out of town for a holiday, in Bandung, for a several days. One day we stopped at an electronic center because my dad wanted to by parts or something for his phone and I was wandering around looking for something interesting. I have always been into computer games but there was no game that followed specifically. I just looked at the shop, if I find something interesting I'll buy it and if I don't then never mind. My kind of game till that time was Barbie series, fashion designing clothes and that thingamajig, but on that very day, I wanted to try something new. I've always loved solving puzzles but I don't like easy puzzle or common type of puzzle I want something that have storyline. So I asked the shopkeeper. He told me that Agatha Christie's good, but apparently it is out of stock. Then he pointed out another game called Nancy Drew. I've watched the movie and it was kind of good so, ta-da, this is my first Nancy Drew game:

When I played it? At first it was not interesting. Why? It is sooo hard, I was stuck and couldn't move on! So when I'm stressed out, I looked for walkthrough in the internet but they are all a spoiler, bleh. But then I found one website that still guide me by giving me hint by hint and not spoiling at all. After that, I played it like a thousand time!!! I know there are sequels of this game, and from that day I started to collect them one by one. But I have to buy each of them in a long interval because, dang that thing is expensive! (For me. But the price is standard, just like any other PC Game)

So, I have collecting it for about 2 and a half year and I've collected and played almost all of the series. It's just that it is so hard to found Nancy Drew's old game in Indonesia. It's like finding a needle in the haystack for Nancy Drew Series older than 'Secret of the Shadow Ranch'. The only two game that I've successfully found was 'Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake' and 'Danger on Deception Island'. But my friend, Syifa Adinda and Meva Nareza has purchased all the 23 Nancy Drew game from online shop (Thank You Kaskus!) and now we're taking turn to installed it. So happy I could die :')

Now, I am thinking about reviewing every single Nancy Drew Game I've played but then it's going to be a very long post because I swear I will talk about it with all my heart. I, then decided to review my favouritest of the Nancy Drew Series. And the winner is.......

Yes, I know! It is also currently the crowd favourite as well. Here's a little summary:
It is the 11th Nancy Drew Game. This is the first time Nancy Drew is travelling out of the States to solve case. And in this game Nancy is going to England! Nancy's going there to investigate the strange attitude of Linda Penvellyn, a daughter of Nancy Drew father's friend and also Nancy Drew's neighbour in River Heights. She (Linda) live in a house called Blackmoor Manor and she married Hugh Penvellyn who turns out comes from the Penvellyn family that have been issued of witchcraft and supernatural thing since generations ago and there are rumour that Blackmoor Manor is cursed. Why is this the best game ever? Played it yourself and you'll know why! Whatever you do, don't forget to order some loop de loop, bangers and mash, pinky and perky and a dog's eye!

See you soon. Ever Yours, Lindy.
